    CBT is focused on the here-and-now as opposed to the past. It highlights negatively biased thinking/behaving patterns and replaces them with realistic alternatives.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

    Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based approach that has proven effective for use with substance use, borderline personality disorder, brain injuries, mood disorders and suicidal ideation.

    DBT consists of four parts: mindfulness (facing situations without judgement), distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention

    Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a type of CBT that deals specifically with OCD symptoms.

    The goal of ERP is to expose a client to their obsessive thoughts (safely, gradually and systematically) in order to eliminate follow-up compulsions. In this way, dysfunctional rituals can be eliminated.

    Insight-based therapy, also known as talk therapy, focuses on analyzing a client’s history to gain awareness about specific thinking and behavioural patterns.
